The smallest of the peregrine family, the Barbary falcon gets its name from its place of origin, living along the Barbary coastline in Africa and throughout the Canary Islands where it specialises in catching small birds from the cliff-side. Its exceptionally long talons allow for higher levels of success when chasing at high speed.
We have been lucky enough to fly Barbary falcons here at Holdenby for over a decade, one of the few bird of prey centres in the UK to do so.
