Gyr Falcon

Falco rusticolus
This is the largest species of falcon world-wide and is considered to be the most prized among falconers. Its large size means that when stooping it has the potential to fly faster even than the peregrine but rarely hunts using this method, instead preferring to tackle arctic hares in a straight line pursuit.
The Gyr Falcon is naturally not used to the bacteria of warmer climates as it does not survive further north. We have to keep this bird’s equipment and housing especially clean to ensure full health.
